I Give Up On Parenting Advice

It starts the minute that your baby leaves the comfort and bliss of the womb and emerges into the world.  Advice.  A fuck tonne of the stuff.

{Happy} New Year

It's the first morning of 2016.

2015 has been a bit of a weird one for me.  I won't say it was a disaster.  Not completely catastrophic.

Because I like to keep things in perspective.

Creativity is Messy

Well in my house anyway.  Maybe I'm doing it wrong.

I took this photo the other day of the destruction wreaked in the kids play area after a particularly robust crafting session:

Mindgames

Today I went running.

It's been awhile.  We've had a few things going on at home.  Which made it really easy for me not to prioritise something that is really important and good for me and instead stay home and drink wine.

I'm not a perfect parent

Earlier in the week a gorgeous friend of mine (you know who you are) posted this article on Facebook.

I read it and "liked" it.  But you know what I "liked" more?  The comment her friend added underneath that read "Hmmm, do they have an article titled "Love your Parents. Leave them Alone"? I would like to read that one!!"

Swallow The Toad

There is a popular phrase used as a remedy for procrastination, "Swallow the Frog".

Embracing Regret

I have two tattoos.

Even writing that sentence fills me with a sort of cringey embarrassment.

Locking Horns

This week I had a fight with someone.  Not an angry fight, but an emotional one.

It's been a while and it reminded me how much I hate it.

Internet Addicted?

Power Down
So there is no formal classification for internet addiction, since the psychological jury is still out on whether it is an actual disorder or not.

Not In The Mood

I am so not in the mood today.

Not in the mood for writing.  Not in the mood for anything really.

I'm fed up, frustrated and grumpy.

Not My Best Week

Not my best week this week.  Nope.  Not my best.

Lots of yelling.  Lots of anger and frustration.  It's really hard to write that down.

Because it's kind of shaming.  Very humbling.  To admit how horrible I am.

Own Two Feet

It Isn't About The Shoes

I have a fundamental fear of raising overindulged little brats.  So being witness to tantrums that escalate from the totally mundane really gets me going.  It doesn't take much for my internal dialogue to start running a loop about how spoilt and entitled my children are becoming.

Memory Bank

So I've just had a lovely dinner with some beautiful girlfriends.  Great and genuine women all.  Good food, good wine and good conversation - what's not to like, right?

Shift Control

I am such a brat.

My life is amazing and I am blessed in so many ways.  And yet lately I find myself feeling irritated and getting frustrated over small stuff.

Thinking this over I realise that it most often occurs when I am not getting my own way.  See?  Brat.
