Liebster Award

Do you know what a Liebster Award is?  No? Yeah, me neither until I saw a few of the blogs I read started being nominated for them, then I was all like 'What are these Liebster Awards and where can I get me one?"

The Leibsters are for new and small blogs and at it's core it's a lovely way of spreading the love by putting the word out there about new little blossoming blogs.  And it's lovely for readers too because there may just be some hidden gems in these lists of newish blogs.

Maybe you'll find a new favourite!  I'd like that.

I've no idea how or when the Liebsters started but when I found myself nominated by not one but THREE blogs that I myself love and have plenty of time for I was tres chuffed. Super!  So thanks ever so much to Jacquie at birdandfox, Pia at These Woven Words and Ing at Tread Kindly.  I hope you already know that I love what you do at your blogs, so it's quite lovely to be included on your lists.  Aww.  Yay for blog love.

The Liebsters are typically broken into four parts based around the number 11.  I don't know why it's eleven, but eleven was always favourite number in my family growing up so I'm gonna run with it.

Part 1 - Answering 11 Questions by birdandfox, These Woven Words and Tread Kindly

(I've combined all their questions lists here and picked my favourites!)

1. What's the last thing you made? A cup of chai and a toasted sandwich for lunch.

2. Best book you've read recently?  Completely obsessed with Winnie The Pooh at the moment, just loving it.  My kids love it too, but for totally different reasons I suspect.

3. Is there something or someone that makes you laugh every time? My partner makes me laugh a lot.  Usually in a "Oh my god you cannot say that!" sort of way.

4. Where is your favourite place to be? In my sons bed, one kid under each arm reading bedtime stories.

5. Smooth or crunchy peanut butter? Or no peanut butter at all?? Crunchy fo sho, but it has been literally years.

6. What is the thing that has surprised you the most about blogging? The connection and community - I heard the rumours, but realising I was becoming a part of this community was something else.  A wonderful surprise.  The other not so wonderful surprise?  Blogging is bloody hard sometimes.

7. When you make fairy bread, do you use the round hundreds and thousands or the long sprinkles? Chyeah, that's right, I ask the big questions.  Round. Of course.

8. Who would be your ideal dinner guests at a dinner for 4 (including you) if you could pick anyone in the world to be there?  Amy Schumer, Germaine Greer, Sylvia Plath.

9. Have you ever seen or experienced anything which would make you believe in life after death?  We used to do seances when we were teenagers.  Some of them were pretty spooky.

10. Best way to get out of a cranky mood?  Shake It Off.  Taylor Swift.  LOUD.

11. Most coveted job?  Author.

Part 2 - Eleven Things About Me

1. I'm adventurous.
2. I'm not spontaneous.
3. I love the rain.
4. I'm an introvert.
5. I loved being pregnant and giving birth.
6. If I give way to you on the road, and you do not wave I judge you.  Oh yes I do.
7. I'm not great with surprises (see 2. above).
8. I love wearing scarves and roll necked jumpers.  Sometimes at the same time.
9. Pasta, dark chocolate and red wine make up an integral part of my diet.
10. I am very self-critical (and I think that can make me judgemental).
11. I hate being made the centre of attention

Part 3 - Blogs I Nominate for A Liebster Award

(In No Particular Order)

1. Needle And Bone It's a bit silly but I feel like I have a connection with Needle And Bone because I remember the Facebook conversation we had with Charlie around coming up with the name.  She chose this one and I love it.  Great recipes, gorgeous photos.  And some home baked bread that makes me think I could try it.
2. Girl Fifteen Clare is a maker and a doer. A Brit living abroad. And she does this really cool think called Six Word Saturday.  Check it out.
3. Leaf And Petal Karen is a very gorgeous presence in the blogging community and she writes some ace words, takes some good photos and makes some cool collages.
4. The Bowerbird Girl Rachael takes great photos and collects everything.
5. CityHippyFarmGirl Gorgeous writing and stunning photos concerning themselves with living a hippy-farm-life in the city.
6. Bear Loves Dove I had the pleasure of meeting Yvette a few weeks ago.  Her blog is about craft, creativity and classically beautiful photography.  Pay a visit to Bear Loves Dove, there's a gentleness there that's very calming.
7. A Quirky Bird WOW check out this quirky birds amazing blog transformation! Zoe is up to all kinds of exciting things over at her place.  This girl is like a self empowerment powerhouse.  Get on it!
8. Miss Pippilotta Just like Needle And Bone I feel strangely invested in Leah's blog Miss Pippilotta having been there when the name was conceived.  It's great to watch it blossom. If you are a sewer, a crafter or a lover of 90's music this one is for you.
9. Basil and Chook Sometimes when you visit a foodie type blog you think everything looks awesome and it makes you hungry but you wouldn't actually cook it because it's all bit complicated or hard or intimidating.  Or is that just me?  Well anyway over at Basil and Chook Simone has great recipes that I can vouch for.  I've cooked from her blog with results that were yum.
10. I Heart Tuesdays Kim and I first bonded at Blog With Pip.  We've been meaning to collaborate ever since.  It hasn't happened yet, but it will.  She writes well about stuff and she's just back from a sabbatical so head over and share the love.
11. Wild About Melbourne Dee's passion for handmade, for Thornbury, for Melbourne and for life is utterly contagious.  In a good way.  A really good way.

And we're done.

I'm actually really looking forward to seeing what the blogs I have nominated do with their questions and facts.  It should be interesting getting to know them a bit better.  And seeing who they nominate.

I hope you enjoy it too.  In fact even if you haven't been nominated for a Liebster feel free to answer these questions in the comments below.  Or if you have a blog, make a blog post out of it!  Be sure and pop back and leave a link in the comments.  I'd love to see your answers too.
